Hamlet

Ballet in Two Acts commissioned by Ballet im Revier
Chroreography: Cathy Marston
Design: Ines Alda
Music: Schnittke, Purcell, Arvo Pärt and Philip Feeney
World Premiere at the Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen, 11th February 2017.

Marston’s two act minimalist ballet, Hamlet, see the Shakespearean play from the perspective of Hamlet’s mother, Queen Gertrude. The score is a compelling compilation arranged by Philip Feeney, which organizes the haunting music of Alfred Schnittke, Henry Purcell and Arvo Pärt, together with additional original music by Feeney himself, into an integrated and powerful score that beautifully underlines the intensity of the narrative.
